What is Heroin?

Heroin is a drug derived from the poppy plant and belongs to a class of drugs called "opioids". In the nineteenth century, opiates were popular remedies. Were used to soothe aches and ailments of a different nature and could be purchased without a prescription in many shops in the U.S. and Europe.

Some are natural opiates (morphine, opium and codeine) and others are synthetic, ie produced in the laboratory from poppy (demerol, methadone, etc.)..

Heroin is an opiate semi - synthetic is produced from morphine through a chemical process and is about 3 times stronger than the latter.

When consumed intravenously, this powerful substance reaches the brain rapidly and produces a "flash" or "hit", as it is usually your immediate effect.

Heroin can be in the form of white powder or as a brown paste or glue (depending on the origin and development process that has had).

Brown heroin should be dissolved with an acid and vitamin C before being injected. This range is also better to be smoked.

The heroin sold on the street is generally not pure, but heroin is cut with other substances (this also happens with cocaine). Pure heroin is "cut" and other synthetic opiates, which can create complications for those who consume, because surely you will not have the effect you're looking for at a time to be put at further risk overdose and other adverse reactions.

What is consumed?
Heroin can be smoked, injected or inhaled. The first two routes of administration are the fastest access to the brain and therefore the effects they produce in less time.

When smoke ( "China"), heroin is heated on an aluminum foil and using an instrument the vapors are inhaled through the nose or mouth.

The intravenous route is by far the most risky of heroin as it entails a high risk of overdose because the totality of the substance enters the bloodstream at once. The pulled it for the same reason that the more risky smoked.

Most of the risks of intravenous disappear when heroin is smoked or sucked though such methods can cause problems for people who suffer from asthma, pneumonia or other respiratory problems.

Heroin can be injected directly through the veins, indirectly through the muscles, or by subcutaneous injection. Each method has its own risks. Later you will explain the detail.

What are the effects?
The effects of heroin (and all drugs, both legal and illegal) are dependent on various factors such as:

the nature of the substance and the way they consume
your personal characteristics: personality, weight, age, health and mood, and your past experience as a consumer of the drug in question
the circumstances in which consumerism drugs: (company, location, legality)
You can find more information on "interactive model"

Heroin, like all opiates, is a potent analgesic that makes the user less aware and better able to tolerate the pain and physical and emotional ailments. Thus, at high doses causes significant sedation.

It can produce feelings of warmth, excitement, pleasure and comfort. However it must be borne in mind that not all people who use heroin are experiencing these effects at all times. As we said, always, whatever you use drugs, legal or illegal, the experience is unique, different and unique for each user.

As unpleasant effects which can sometimes generate the use of heroin may include: constipation, nausea, slowed breathing, decreased sexual desire. Moreover, women may experience irregular periods or even stop
